Cake for Breakfast
We had a really good weekend spending time doing what we love best, with each other and with good friends. ::smile::
The weather wasn't the best for San Diego. It was overcast and cloudy, and actually kind of cold, with highs in the low 60's. But we can't complain as we have year-round great weather, so this little glitch was alright with us.
I had cake for breakfast this morning! So bad I know, but it was sitting there on the counter calling my name. Our next door neighbor Annie made it and brought it over for our get-together lunch yesterday. It's chocolate with light chocolate frosting and caramel sauce. Inside has cherries. Yum! Sally came over yesterday too, and it was so great to see her. I hadn't seen her in almost a month it seems.
Dad finally made it home from Europe on Saturday. He went to France and various cities in Italy, plus Monaco. I'm going to visit him this weekend and check out his photos.
I did get a chance to work out some this weekend. I walked a lot. I got to go to the beach and take a walk on Saturday, plus have Bongiornos pizza!
I watched Grey's Anatomy. I am a couple of episodes from the season finale.
I also watched Juno. What a great movie! I cried and cried, although I think I might have been extra-emotional due to the fact that I am off my medication that I've been on for a year, after my panic attacks. I'm still getting used to being off the meds. It does seem like I feel the highs and lows a little more, but we'll see.
It's back to work Tuesday today. I've got stuff to do for work, plus some bills to pay.

I love food
This past week I've eaten so many good things! And I did exercise a couple of times too...
Let's see... Tuesday night I took Todd to Cafe Japengo in La Jolla. I had a free $100 Night On The Town allowance from work, because of something extra I did a while back. I got the seared scallops and potato cakes with lemongrass beurre blanc. Todd got the Kobe Flat Iron Steak with wasabi mashed potatoes, bok choy, and hon shemiji mushrooms with ginger-port reduction. Both were yummy and full of flavor. Oh, I also had a crab cake appetizer. Todd doesn't eat crab so I got it for myself! :) Then for dessert I had the chocolate lava cake with vanilla gelato and fresh fruit, while Todd had cinnamon dusted tempura banana with caramel sauce and ganache with vanilla gelato. Todd wolfed it down so fast and said it was one of the best desserts he'd ever had!
Then Wednesday night after dinner, after I cleaned up the dishes, Todd said I could go to Yogurt World. Who am I to turn down Yogurt World, so off we went. I just love their original tart flavor with sliced almonds and little white choco chips. So good!
Thursday evening we went running at Miramar Lake. Afterwards we went to Chile Peppers for our favorite Mexican food. I had 3 rolled chicken tacos and scarfed them down really fast. Then I got another three because I was still hungry. But I gave Todd one so I wasn't SUPER piggy, just slightly piggy.
Yesterday we went running at the beach in Encinitas. It was hot already at 10 AM. So we put our time in, then went over to Bongiornos nearby and had our favorite pizza. That pizza is soooo good. Then about 5:00 PM we drove down to Bread & Cie so Todd could get his favorite brownie. He claimed that it's his "birthday brownies", even though his birthday was back in Feb. But his sister Amy had bought the brownies for him and they never delivered them, so I guess they're still his birthday brownies.
After that we went to BaiYook for Thai food. It used to be our favorite Thai food but somehow this time it was different and we're not sure why. After dinner, we went to nearly Balboa Park to just walk around and enjoy the weather and the scenery. We're so lucky to live in San Diego. Balboa Park is so pretty. We brought our tripod with us, and now we have some good photos of both of us together!
Speaking of photos, here is one we took at Balboa Park. I have a trial version of Adobe Lightroom, and I am starting to love it for photo editing. It is SO much easier than Photoshop! I went from the first photo (SOOC) to the second photo in 2 clicks!
Today we're just sticking around the house. I'm catching up on some digi-scrapping stuff. This weekend has been quite warm around here, like in the 90's. So we've got the A/C going. I'll be back later this week to post some scrap stuffs.

Color Quiz
I did this color quiz on the internet today. It's not totally accurate but I'll highlight a couple of things that seem to fit me.
"Anxious to experience life in all its aspects, to explore all its possibilities, and to live it to the fullest. She therefore resents any restriction or limitation being imposed on her and insists on being free and unhampered."
"Open to new ideas and possibilities which she hopes will prove fruitful and interesting."
I'm always open to new possibilities, even though I am cautious and will evaluate things before I try them, especially if I'm unsure about it! And the "living to the fullest" is dead on. It's basically been my mantra for years.

Miss You Mama
Full credits here.
Today was Mother's Day and it's the second Mother's Day since my mom went to heaven. I miss her a lot and take solace in that one day we will reunite in heaven again. In the midst of thinking about my mom, I actually chuckled a bit at a memory of her. Those that knew my mom knows that she was very unassuming and the most gentle woman. But she also got several speeding tickets in her lifetime! I was never there when she got them, but just the image of my little gentle mother getting pulled over for speeding makes me chuckle.
The reason I thought of her speeding tickets was because I had to go to online traffic school for about five hours yesterday and today. :( I got a speeding ticket back in April and I have to pay $315 (yes, you read right) AND about $40 to go through traffic school so that I can get the point taken off of my driving record. It's not a great way to spend hours of my weekend, but at least now it's done and I can pay the fees and move on. This has really taught me a lesson. Before this I had never been pulled over by police before and obviously never had a moving violation.
Friday night we went to Smokin' Joel's BBQ for dinner. I had never been there before. I wasn't too impressed because I thought the BBQ sauce was too sweet and not spicy enough. I had the sampler slider where I got mini sandwiches with pulled chicken, pulled pork, and beef brisket. It was fine enough, but I won't be going back again and again.
Yesterday we ran on the coast of Encinitas again. It was fairly warm but still very nice out. Afterwards we went to pizza at Bongiorno's (yes, again). The owner there chats with us now because we're such regulars, lol. He wore an Ohio State t-shirt yesterday, so Todd asked him about it. Turns out he's from Ohio! Then after eating in (ma puo dofu) for dinner, we went to Yogurt World for dessert. Love love Yogurt World! I got the original tart flavor with sliced almonds. Todd loaded his up with lots of fruits and caramel sauce. This is our new obsession besides Bongiornos.
Another week starting up. Hopefully the weather will be good and we can go running/rollerblading at Miramar Lake after work this week.

Mario Kart
Last week Todd and I went to lunch together on Monday at the Souplantation, because they have cream of mushroom soup on Mondays and I love it. Afterwards Todd drove home a different way and I wondered why. Well, pretty soon I figured out we were stopping by Best Buy. So I asked him, "What new Wii game came out? Mario Kart?" and he said "How'd you know?!" So we picked up the new Wii Mario Kart game and an extra wheel (it comes with one wheel). Been playin' it ever since! It's so fun, even Todd's dad liked it when he came to visit last week.
I dunno if I ever told the story of how I got started on digi-scrapping. I basically "found" the hobby on the internet after searching around. I stumbled onto the Shabby Princess site from the About.com site. Shabby Princess gives out the most awesome free kits. So if you're looking to start digi-scrapping I would start there by downloading her freebies. Anyways, from Shabby Princess site I found my way to Gina Cabrera's site, Digital Design Essentials. It was there that I fell in love with digital scrapbooking. All her designs were awesome and I just love her use of colors! I immediately purchased one of her CD's and haven't stopped since! She just keeps cranking out the good stuff and I keep buying them, lol! Well, I'm so excited because I'm a guest Creative Team member for DDE for 4 months starting now! It's truly a dream come true for me to CT for Gina Cabrera! Look, I'm on her site!
Well, besides work and running, eating pizza, and digi-scrapping, I haven't done much else lately. I'm starting to think I should get a life! If I don't go out and DO more stuff, I won't have pictures to scrap!

What does your latte say about you?
What Your Latte Says About You |
You can be quite silly at times, but you know when to buckle down and be serious. You have a good deal of energy, but you pace yourself. You never burn out too fast. You have a healthy relationship with caffeine. You're definitely not dependent on it. You are responsible, mature, and truly an adult. You're occasionally playful, but you find it hard to be carefree. You are dramatic and intense, but you are never moody. |
