Hard at Work
Photo today:
We have this really tall wall at the entrance to our house, basically part of our living room. I was sitting in a chair facing it today, and realized that the hugeness of the wall really makes my hall cabinet and photos really small, even though they're not. Wouldn't it be cool to have a HUGE mural painted on that wall?
I've been working a lot the last few days, finalizing the budget at work. Couple that with remodeling estimates and I have numbers coming out of my ears. It's a little stressful but I actually like the work so it's not too bad. And it's very luxurious to have a job these days. :: nod nod ::
Tonight we had a two hour meeting with one of the remodelers and we got the first estimate out of three for our kitchen and bathroom remodel. The price was a few thousand dollars higher than we expected. Now we know where the high-end is and hopefully we can get it done for less money than the quote. The good thing is that the price included some nice features already, so it's unlikely to go much higher.
Remodeling isn't cheap!! I was always surprised how much the work ended up being on our remodels...and we never changed the floor plan either! We always had a hard time getting people to come out and give bids for the work. I'm sure that now is a different time. They aren't building the big custom homes right now...work is slow, so I'm sure they'd show up now! We had to run to the tile place the other day, and I sat in the car and waited for my husband while he ran in. I had several people approach me with their business cards while I sat there. Sadly, I'm not having any work done right now...just need to clean and seal our saltillo tiles.
ReplyDeleteWe have a very similar wall in our living room, which faces the entry. A mural would be very cool...I just put a chair rail with different color paint on the upper and the lower, and then a large mirror kind off made it not look SO big and empty!! It will do for now!
My mom has a giant rug hanging on her 2 story wall like yours. I bet you could find a really pretty one at IKEA.
ReplyDeleteOO A blank canvas. you can do so many neat things with that. Good luck with remodeling and enjoy the process ;-)
