Feliz Cinco de Mayo

For the longest time, I thought Cinco de Mayo was Mexican independence day, until my friend Julio corrected me a few years ago. Turns out that the holiday celebrates the Mexican army's victory over the French forces in the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. But now it's an excuse to eat Mexican food, and to drink Coronas, Dos X, and margaritas. Who am I to NOT celebrate Cinco de Mayo, since I live so close to Mexico? :p

  1. AWESOME! Thank you for the history lesson!! I thought it was the time of year when they held an AWESOME carnival in Portland (I got to attend once when I was 14?)

    Love Todd's *hat*

  2. Mmm, that looks yummy! I've never been a fan of Corona (I like European style beer with a little more taste), until we visited Mexico and drank them with lime and a rim of salt. That is just perfect for a hot day in the sun!

  3. LOL I love it! Thanks for the info on Cinco de Mayo - I have heard of it but had no idea what it was. The first time I even heard of it was a few years ago when Ellen celebrated it on her show. Looks like you had fun!
