It's not a very becoming photo, but it triggered one of my favorite memories of my mom.
In 2000, when we had just moved to San Diego, my sister and brother-in-law came to visit from Texas. We went to Universal Studios Hollywood. We went on the Jurassic Park ride. At the end of the ride, you go down a steep hill into a pool of water, and get splashed. While you were in line, you could purchase these ponchos from a vending machine so you didn't get totally soaked. After we went on the ride the first time, I was surprised to hear mom say in a gleeful voice, "Let's go on it again!" I just never expected that from her! She was a tiny and sometimes timid and quiet woman. So we went on the ride again. I guess she really enjoyed it!
So, even though we didn't take as many photos in the pre-digital time, I'm so glad we caught this photo, because the memories associated with it are priceless.
Today I had another memory of my mom pop up. I remembered how much she loved to read. She always had a book with her everywhere she went. Whenever I read a book, I'm reminded of our common bond. I'd love to make time to read more books.
I will be off the internet for a few days, doing fun things. I'll blog about it in a few days. :)

What a wonderful and fun memory of your mom. It's always nice to remember the fun stuff and not just the sad stuff. She sounds like such a fun and caring woman.

what a sweet memory, sometimes, the simplest things have the best memories.
