DIY Holiday Garland

Last week, in my spare time (cough cough, LOL), I was putting up the Christmas tree ornaments when I felt like something was missing. I decide to make some garlands using some Christmas scrapbook paper from my paper-scrapping days. Well, who am I kidding? I still love paper and buy them sometimes, LOL.

I decided to keep it simple and use a large Marvy scallop circle punch and punch out a bunch of the circles from my papers.

Then I used a hole punch and punched some holes in the middle of my scalloped circles. Some I did one hole, while others I did two so that they would lay flat when stringed onto a ribbon.

My collection of scalloped circles punched out.

Next I re-purposed some ribbons that came tied up with a box of ornaments that I bought a couple of years ago, and strung up the hole-punched circles.

Then I put the garland up onto the Christmas tree.

Pretty crafty eh? No glue was used even!

Then I decided to make more garlands to spruce up our stairway. So I used my Marvy square scalloped punch and punched a bunch of squares from my scrapbooking paper.

Then I punched two holes in the middle of each square and strung them onto a ribbon.

Viola! Stairway decorations!

Just a random shots of the tree.

I thought this was cool.

So if you have some Christmas scrapbook papers lying around, and you have some paper punches, you can make these garlands easily too!

  1. This is VERY cool! We have enough "us"ornaments now that I decided not to use the big plush tinsel garland on the tree this year because it would cover too many of the ornaments. The tree looks like it needs some sort of thin garland though. I think I'llgive your garland idea a try. It looks awesome!

    Merry Christmas!

  2. Good thing there was no glue used. Glue is for sniffing!
