A Night of Surprises

Todd's company Christmas party last Saturday night was called "A Night of Surprises". Before the night began, I kept asking Todd, "so what are the surprises?" But of course, he didn't know either. The party started at 7:00pm at The Abbey at Banker's Hill. As we arrived, the first surprise: there were large searchlights lighting up the night sky, and a red carpet entrance, complete with fake bouncers out in front! Right when we got in, Todd found the desert table right next to the entrance.

There was also a dinner buffet as well, with lots of choices like shrimp cocktail, lobster bisque, eggrolls, prime rib, salad, sushi, chicken lettuce wrap, etc. I fell down on the job and didn't take any photos of the buffet!

Every hour of the party, Todd's company's HR director, Michael, would draw a few people's names and announce what they'd won. We didn't win anything, but the prices were BIG prices! Things like: an iPad, $1000 airline credit, spa packages, etc. Also once an hour, some sort of surprise entertainment would appear on the dance floor.

The first were these ballroom dancers from Mary Murphy's (of So You Think You Can Dance) Champion Ballroom studio in San Diego.

One of the highlights/surprises of the evening was when a Cher impersonator came on stage and performed a couple of songs for us.

I didn't know it at the time, but apparently it was Chad Michaels, a famous Cher impersonator. One of Todd's coworkers is a big Cher fan and was actually moved to tears.

We also ran into Moji and his wife. Todd actually worked with Moji at his previous company, so they go way back!

Overall, it was a fun evening. It was apparent that a lot of people put a lot of effort into making the party great!

Todd and I walked down a few blocks to the Park Manor Suites, where they offered a special rate to everyone at Todd's company who attended the party that night. If you want some real scary stories, you can read my review of the hotel on Yelp here. :(

  1. Love your hair. You should curl it more often. :) Pretty.

  2. What a fun holiday party! I hope it made up for the unpleasant hotel experience.
