Bluegrass Brunch

We had been wanting to try the Bluegrass Brunch at Urban Solace for quite a while now. The food there is good and Todd likes live bluegrass music. We made a date with Monika and David on Sunday to finally experience Bluegrass Brunch!

We got there first and put our name in, since they don't take reservations. It was a 45 minute wait, so we walked north to Cafe Calabria for a latte and a snack, because Todd was hungry from cycling. So we texted Monika and David to meet us at Cafe Calabria for the wait.

Todd got a little nutella sandwich. The bread was quite yummy.

He also got a latte.

Cafe Calabria is a well-known coffee roaster in San Diego. Many restaurants and shops get their coffee beans from Cafe Calabria. Just look at their HUGE coffee roasting machine!

Todd usually does not drink coffee but he will try a good latte at times. Great lattes are never bitter.

Just hanging out, waiting for Monika and David.

Fairly soon, our friends showed up and we chatted for a while. Then it was time to head back down the street to Urban Solace, because it had been 45 minutes! We walk in the door and they ushered us to our seats immediately! What great timing!

The menu had less things that Todd could eat than he thought. Almost the whole brunch menu had items with eggs or cheese in it, both of which he doesn't eat. So he got a hamburger. At least he knows he likes the hamburger there!

And because it's been a while since we've had a "Todd Shot" on the blog, he obligingly posed.

I got the Steak Benny (House Biscuit, Prime Hangar Steak, Poached Fresh Eggs, Smoked Ancho Chili Hollandaise) - oh goodness, it was good!

Monika got EBLT (Brown Sugar Slab Bacon, Fried Eggs, Thick Toasted Egg Bread, Lemon-Thyme Aioli, Sweet Potato FF)

David got Cheesy Scrambled Eggs, Brown Sugar Slab Bacon and Traditional Grits.

The gang minus Todd.

The downside to where we were sitting was we couldn't really hear the bluegrass band, and we couldn't see them at all. Todd went around the corner and found them.

I enjoyed the food very much, and it was a fun time with Monika and David. We've gotta invite them over for dinner soon! Monika wants a tour of the craft studio!
