New 52 | Week 36: Sanseido Bookstore

I love books and bookstores.  I also love stationary.  When I had dinner with Sally last Wednesday at Santouka inside the Mitsuwa Market, I noticed that they also have a Japanese bookstore inside the market called Sanseido.  Of course, I had to check out a new-to-me bookstore!

I browsed around and it was really fun!  Most of the books were in Japanese, so I didn’t know what they were about.  They had a manga (comics) section and I found a bunch of Doraemon comics!  I used to LOVE those when I was little, growing up in Taiwan. Except mine were in Chinese.  These are in Japanese and I can’t read them!  :(  Sanseido also has a big section of pens.  I’ve admitted on this blog before (and on Facebook) that I’m a pen aficionado.  I love checking out new pens and new colors, and I’m very particular about how a pen feels in my hand and how it writes, if it bleeds through the paper, and if it dries fast or not.  I had gotten the brown SARASA pen below online from Jetpens, my new favorite online source for pens and scrapbooking adhesives.  I like the ink flow and feel of this SARASA Clip 0.7mm brown pen, so when I saw that they sell the same pens at the bookstore, I picked up three more.  They were $1.70 each at the store.  I picked my favorite shades of blue.  Jetpens sells them for a little bit cheaper, but you know what they say about “a bird in the hand…”!  :)

I loved the Sanseido Japanese bookstore.  The only thing wrong with it was they don’t carry Japanese washi tape!  How is this possible?  I asked the store clerk, and she said she’ll talk to the store owner about ordering some!  :)

About This Project

New52 is a project started by Peppermint and I to encourage each other and others around us to try something new every week in 2011. The "new" each week doesn't have to be something big. It could be something as simple as ordering a new dish instead of old standbys at your favorite restaurant. It's simply opening your heart up to NEW possibilities.
Don't worry if you're late getting started on joining in. It's totally OK if you miss a week here or there. We encourage everyone to keep an open mind about trying something new. This is a life project, and a photography/blog and even scrap challenge if you wish. If you participate this week, please leave a link to your blog post in the link list below.
