2nd Annual Elf Party

Last year we had our first Elf movie viewing party at our house and it was a great success.  So we decided to do it again this year, and hopefully make it an annual tradition!  :)

Even better this year, because I got some Elf hats for everyone to wear!

The menu this year was fantastic!  We had a feast!


Anne brought over a potato casserole.  It looked and tasted like a baked potato with sour cream, onions, cheese, and bacon!


We had “Pan-Seared Chicken” from America’s Test Kitchen.  This is literally the BEST chicken dish that I’ve ever tasted.  We’ve made it three times now and every time I just want to eat it all! 

Our guests all thoroughly enjoyed this for sure!  :D

We also had “Roasted Asparagus with Balsamic Browned Butter”, one of our favorite dishes from Cooking Light. 


And the main attraction of the evening was most certainly the “Triple Chocolate Mousse Cake” that Todd made. 

The recipe is from America’s Test Kitchen, and when we watched that particular episode, they said this was the BEST dessert that they’ve EVER made!  Todd made this the night before and I had to wait a whole 24 hours before digging into it!  When it was served, the whole room went silent, because all our guests were too busy eating it to say a word!  And because it was so good, here’s another photo.

The bottom layer is flourless chocolate cake, then chocolate mousse, then white chocolate mousse on top.

And what would an Elf Party be without some mischief?


When everyone left, I sent them home with some Elf Treats. 


Todd and I LOVE the “Best Ever Hot Cocoa Mix” recipe from America’s Test Kitchen.  We made it for the first time last year and couldn’t get over how creamy and chocolatey it was.  So Todd made a couple of batches and put them into some mason jars and I decorated them.
