As you know from my post a few days ago… my mom passed away on Valentine’s Day 2007, so Todd and I don’t really celebrate Valentine’s in a big way. But this year I thought I would show him how much I love him in my own small way. Valentine’s Day was on Tuesday, which meant that Todd got up at 6:15 in the morning to go swim 2000 yards at the YMCA. So I got up early as well to run on the treadmill. Then I pulled out some cute bowls that I got from West Elm and filled them with hot steel cut oats and squeezed some honey on top.
Breakfast served with love! ♥
When Todd came home, he was surprised and delighted!
Then after dinner, I pulled out some cute mugs that I got at West Elm and made some salted caramel hot chocolate.
Todd and I have a tradition of having “hot chocolate dates” back to college, when we first started dating. So these heart mugs of hot chocolate was a cute way to end Valentine’s Day.
We did go out to dinner on Thursday night. Todd wanted to have a dinner date, so who am I to say no? :p He had been wanting to try out Pizzeria Bruno Napoletano in North Park ever since he read about it on Gastrobits blog.
Pizzeria Bruno is only one of two pizzerias in San Diego that has the wood burning brick oven built in Italy. {The other place being Caffe Calabria, which we’ve been twice.}
We got there at 5:45 and we were the first ones to arrive, LOL.
We shared a salad to start. It was very good.
And then we ordered pizzas. I ordered a Diavolo (tomato sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni, garlic, and goat peppers).
Todd ordered the Salsicce pizza, which is tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, fennel sausage, and broccoli rabe.
It seems like we always order the same pizzas, ha ha. Those are the two pizzas we ordered at Caffe Calabria as well. We had a wonderful evening of great food and conversation. Todd makes me feel special, I hope I do the same for him.
♥♥ - super cute storytelling, listgirl. The pizza was slower to come out compared with Calabria so Bruno is not good if you are in a hurry. I couldn't say which was better tasting.
