This week I blogged at Evalicious about this layout I made to celebrate warmer days and living by the ocean.
Todd and I took a Monday off in February. We were going to see a movie, but when we walked up to buy the tickets, they only had seats in the front row left. We decided to forego the movie and go to the nearby beach instead. What a great decision that was! It was a gorgeous day out. The blue skies and the scenery was so picturesque. These are the type of days I’ll always remember.
For this layout, I wanted to evoke the golden sunlight and the blue and green ocean. I painted the background cardstock first using some gold and white pearl Martha Stewart craft paint and a paint brush. Then I used a gold mist to add a few droplets of gold in a couple of places.
One of my favorite methods of making the photo stand out from the background is to add some vellum behind it. I painted the edge of the vellum paper with the same Martha Stewart gold paint.
I finished it off by stamping the Love This banner stamp onto a circle tag with Brilliance Galaxy Gold ink. (It’s my favorite gold stamping ink ever.) Then I wrote “I remember” with a gold pen.
I see that you use the brilliance gold ink pad. I really like it but find that it takes a while to dry. This is usually a problem on glossy surfaces like pictures. Does this happen to you as well? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHi Laura! Yes, it does take a while for the ink to dry. If I'm stamping on photos I usually will stamp first then leave the photo to dry while I build other parts of my layout. It should dry in about an hour or two. Or if I remember, I will stamp the night before and then work on the layout the next day.
DeleteLovely, Christine!!
