Thursday 8/1 marked one month on Weight Watchers for me. That morning I weighed myself and I had lost 4.8 lbs in the month of July. Todd and I had decided in mid-July that with all my daily efforts at eating less and eating healthy, that we could have a once-per-month splurge meal. All my Facebook friends were curious to know what I had picked for my splurge meal. It was the Neri pasta at Monello. I had it once a few months ago and couldn’t stop thinking about it.
The Neri: Squid ink pasta with lobster bisque sauce and roasted octopus.
My cute dinner companion.
He had the Bistecca Monello, steak with potatoes.
We shared the grilled veggies.
At Monello, they give you these lupini beans instead of bread. They have a waxy outside that you’re not supposed to eat. You pop out the inside of the beans and eat it. They are good.
I saved half of my pasta for the next day, so I could have a little dessert. I hadn’t had candy or dessert in a month! We ordered two little desserts to share. This one was the pannacotta al cioccolato, which had chocolate custard, whipped cream, berries, and almonds.
This one was the bonet, which was dark chocolate and amaretto cookies custard.
So that was my splurge meal after one month on Weight Watchers. If I’m successful in losing weight in August, I will schedule another splurge meal at the end of Aug or beginning of Sept! :) Oh and by the way, all food photos were taken with my iPhone 4S. Turned out really well!
Remember a couple of weeks ago, we had just gone to the San Diego Velodrome for the first time? Coincidentally, Todd was chatting with his triathlon friend Cat, and she invited us to watch the Friday night races at the Velodrome with her and her husband Mick, and a bunch of their friends. Cat’s friend Jenny was racing! It sounded like fun, so we were in!
This time we got some great photos because the sun was out and it was the golden hour right before sunset.
We brought grapes, smokehouse almonds, some chocolate, and Cokes. Cat & Mick brought a jug of wine. Everyone brought their own picnic dinners, but we had eaten at home already. The velodrome allows open container, and dogs too! Such fun!
Todd caught a shot of Jenny at the start of one of the races.
Cat & Todd.
If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you’ll know that Todd does triathlons and he did the Ironman California 70.3 (1.2 miles ocean swim, 56 mile bike ride, and 13.1 mile run) back in March 2012. Cat did the race too. Here they were after finishing the race. Definitely my heroes!
Cat took a photo of Todd and me.
Wine and bike race-watching, what could be better? :D
Cool shot of the riders in line during a race.
The sunset was very pretty that night.
It was a great end to a good week. And hooray once again for summer fun!
Yay! I'm excited you started blogging again. I love how you document your life...That's so awesome about your weight lost!!! Glad you are seeing rewards for all your dedication and effort!!! :) You look great! Glad you got to splurge and the food looked YUMMY!!! The Velodrome shots are cool. My best friend's little girl who's only 10 does it with her dad and they love it.
ReplyDeleteThanks Diane! So cool about the 10 year old girl racing. We did see 2-3 races with kids in it. They are so awesome and cute to watch!
DeleteCongrats on your weight loss! That pasta looks absolutely amazing, I love squid ink pasta. I found this place that served it near where we lived in Manhattan, but we never went back because Phillip wasn't impressed with their portion sizes, so I'm once again on the hunt for a good squid ink pasta!
ReplyDeleteCONGRATULATIONS on your weight loss!! Your splurge dinner looked absolutely delicious.
ReplyDeleteMy husband especially was fascinated by the velodrome races in the last summer Olympics when he caught them on TV. It's so cool that you can watch them in person!
