My Birthday Week
I’ve had the greatest week full of love, family, friends, food, and memories! I know that looking back on this post will make me feel super-thankful and blessed, no matter where I am in life.
Tuesday was my actual birthday, but the celebration started on Sunday night when we met up with our favorite friends for our annual “birthday dinner” tradition. It’s a “Todd + Christine” combined birthday dinner with friends. (See 2013, 2011, 2010) This year we met at China Max for some family-style feast.
Dejah & Roby
AJ & Meera
Sally
Todd & me
We were sad that Anne & Gilbert were not able to attend this year! It was such an awesome evening of catching up with our friends, enjoying great food, and sharing stories. I will never forget the fun we had.
On the actual morning of my birthday, Todd made me a fluffy mushroom omelet. He found the recipe from America’s Test Kitchen.
Todd hates eggs, cheese, and mushrooms. So it was a big sacrifice to make this birthday breakfast for me, ha ha! It was so delicious though!
Then in the evening we went out for my birthday dinner at Ortegas in Hillcrest. It happened to be Margarita Tuesday, so I had a birthday margarita. It doesn’t look like I enjoyed it at all, does it??
My favorite person in the whole wide world.
I got crab enchiladas and they were fantastic! So yummy!
Todd got chicken mole.
I didn’t have actual cake on my birthday, but Todd & I shared a brownie sundae and it was beyond good.
As per my annual birthday tradition, I took a selfie.
I got three varieties of chocolate teas from Dejah & Roby. I got Amazon gift cards from Sally and my sister Joyce. Todd got me the Roomba as an early birthday gift in February (I talked about how much I love it here). My dad sent me a birthday check. Todd’s mom Sylvia sent me a calligraphy book. I also gave myself a birthday gift of all the new dye inks from Studio Calico.
The colors are SO pretty! I made some swatch cards using the inks.
My March Ipsy Glam Bag happened to come this week too. I love everything I got in it this month: Pixi Flawless Beauty Primer, Chella Indigo Blue Eyeliner, NYX Love In Rio Eyeshadows, and Bareminerals Marvelous Moxie Lipstick in Get Ready. And the cute bag!
Meera gave me the gift of lunch and time together. We met up for lunch on Thursday at Pho Hoang Express.
My appreciation of her friendship could not be overstated.
My friend Patsy’s birthday happens to be a week from mine, so we celebrated together with lunch on Friday at Akai Hana.
Yummy salmon teriyaki!
Noodle gave me the gift of being the cutest cat in the world.
He loves snuggling and watching TV with Todd.
And finding a sunny spot by the sliding glass door isn’t too bad.
Birthday week ended with a surprise ice cream sandwich Friday night. Todd found out about a homemade ice cream sandwich place in Pacific Beach called The Baked Bear and decided that I needed to try it out. Mint chocolate chip ice cream sandwiched between chocolate chip cookies.
I shared it with him, of course. But let’s just say that counting calories was not the priority during Birthday Week, ha ha! :D
Stay tuned to my blog because on Tuesday I’ll have a giveaway related to Project Life. You don’t want to miss out!
