I LOVE glitter foam Thickers from American Crafts. Like these.
I used the yellow ones on this layout for the title. The layout would not be the same without the foam glitter Thickers.
So when I saw a video from Lawn Fawn about using their Cole’s ABC dies on projects, and saw that you can use them with adhesive backed foam sheets, I knew I could make my own glitter foam Thickers!
All you need to get started are:
Peel & Stick Glitter Foam Sheets (8.5 x 5.5)
Lawn Fawn Cole’s ABC die set
Sizzix Big Shot (or any other diecutting platform that takes thin metal dies)
Closer look at the glitter foam sheets. This set came in 10 colors.
The sandwich for the Big Shot, from the bottom up:
Big Shot platform, all tabs down
Cutting plate
Glitter foam sheet
Dies (cutting side down)
Cutting plate
Run the sandwich through the Big Shot forwards once and backwards once.
There you have ‘em, some peel & stick glitter foam alphas, like my favorite Thickers!
I picked the Cole’s ABC die set because I found this font to be very versatile and could see myself using these DIY thickers all the time. The glitter foam sheets I used are not quite as thick as the glitter foam Thickers from American Crafts, but they are thick enough and cut like butter with the dies. The die set came with the letters welded together with thin metal wiring. I cut them apart so I could just use individual letters to diecut a word, rather than run the entire set of letters through my Big Shot and having letters I don’t need.
I’m really excited to make more of these glitter foam alpha stickers and use them on my layouts, Project Life, and cardmaking! :)
GENIUS!!!
ReplyDeleteAwesome idea. Yet another reason for me to "covet" a manual die cut machine! ;-)

I never thought to use the pre-sticky version. You're the best for including an Amazon link too. :)
ReplyDeleteI love this idea, Christine! And yes, thanks for the links!
ReplyDeleteThanks no more leftover QZX or need more vowels.
ReplyDeleteHow cool is this?! The colors of that glitter foam are really nice and I love the font of that die set too. Thanks for sharing!
