One Little Bird | December Project Life Page

Hi Everyone!  I am on the One Little Bird blog today with a Project Life page about our Elf Party!  This is the fourth time we've had a December "Elf" movie watching party at our house, so it is definitely a tradition with friends!

I combined several different ways to use digital supplies on this page.  I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out the word "joy" from The Two Five cutting files.

I also love typing out my journaling cards before printing them out, so I used the "joy" png file as a placeholder in Photoshop so that I can type my journaling around the word.  Then I hid the layer with the word "joy" and printed the journaling out.  After cutting out "joy" with gold paper, I adhered it in place and added some gold sequins.

For this 3x4 photo, I used a template from Photojournalist Vol. 01.  I recolored the "sparkle" circle by sampling the light blue in my photo.

This 3x4 journal card was originally 4x6 in the "There's Something About Merry" journal card pack.  I cut it down to 3x4 in Photoshop, moved the ornament to the right, and typed journaling before printing it out.

On the tree photo below, I added the "a beautiful sight" label from "There's Something About Merry Elements" right onto the photo in Photoshop before printing it out.

One other thing I love to do is use digital word art right onto the photo.

Just for something different, I put a shadow on this digital word sticker before printing the photo out.

  1. LOVE these pages...I'm gonna pretend that these photos are from 3 years ago and you're just now getting around to scrapping them...since that's what I do and all...lol

  2. Beautiful pages! Love how you type(?) the journaling. In red?! Do you have a red typewriter ribbon??? It, along with the word art on the photos, looks awesome!

    1. Hi Madeline! I actually typed the journaling on my computer in Photoshop, that's how I printed it in red. I think the red type really adds a festive feel to the page! :)

  4. Listgirl, I'm new to your blog and I have spent the last two days (I went to bed at 2:30 a.m. this morning) reading your entire blog for the year! I could say so much about your blog and your PL pages and your traditional pages and your wonderful life... I am overwhelmed! I don't know where to begin!
First, I think your pages are wonderful. I am drawn to your pages because you do such a great job of mixing pictures and kits and story -- always the story. Words are very important to me, not just the pictures and dates. Also because there are just two of you and it is just me and my husband now, the kids are grown. I tried PL one year and I just couldn't get it together so I also very much appreciated the blog posts about your process -- and especially the details you provided about Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop and your printer and the printer paper comparison blog post and your comments about the expense of printing at home. I agree that printing at home makes a huge difference. I love your comments about mixing kits -- and congratulations on making so many design teams during 2014 -- 3 I think! and being a guest designer -- I loved your traditional layouts too -- the one of you and your friend scrapbooking together was really sweet, and what you and your husband thought of each other when you first met. Interestingly, lots of people have been asking my husband how we met recently and it's really the first time he's opened up and told the story! You gave me some great ideas for things to scrapbook and memorialize, things I want to put down and remember.
You do have very active lives -- we don't so much -- we don't eat out as much, but we do cook; your husband is very cooperative on photographs - my husband is not, I'll have to work around that; we don't have any pets to document, I'll have to work around that as well.
We are huge sports fans though -- we both went to Notre Dame! And we have season tickets to the local professional football team (whose name dare not be spoken) and we are in a group that shares season tickets to the Nationals games. We do have two grown kids, there should be some stories there as well. I've been unemployed for over a year and am job hunting, I hope to find one soon; my husband does plan to retire after next academic year, but I plan a whole separate album about that... I can document downsizing I hope to accomplish...
You can see I am full of ideas/thoughts/a bit unfocused.
QUESTION: How do you get the movie posters for PL? Do you download from the internet and resize in Lightroom or Photoshop?

I am looking forward to the rest of your 2014 album and working on 2015 with you!
